Transform Your Beauty Business: 3 Essential Tips for Online and Offline Success

Let us take a trip back to the year 2014. Instagram is still in diapers. Nobody knows what to really do with it yet. We are reposting grainy photos from our desktops with silly little captions like “Just another day at work.” There are no advertisement pop-ups, no blue verified checkmarks. Hashtags? We’re just winging it. And the term “going viral”? Isn't even a thing yet.
We were fresh off of Facebook, BlackPlanet, and MySpace—and “cancel culture” hadn’t even hit the scene. But one thing was certain: if you were selling a product or service, you had better come correct. Because while online clout didn’t run things yet, your real-life reputation absolutely did.
Fast forward to today. We’re flooded with perfectly edited photos and major motion-picture-like Reels. The pressure to perform online just to be seen is real. But as a woman who’s been in the service industry for over 15 years—11 of them as a full-time entrepreneur—I’m here to remind you:
What you do in real life still matters more than what you post online. I’d like to say that posting doesn’t matter as long as you’re great offline—but the truth is, in 2025, you need both to truly elevate your business. Now, if you’re cool with a few word-of-mouth clients each month, you can go ahead and exit this blog right here.
But if you're ready to transform your beauty business and take it up a level—by showing up with excellence offline and boldly online—keep reading.
Here are 3 ways to glow up your business starting today:
✨ Tip 1: Create an Experience for Your Customer
First things first: you’re working on another human being. Treat them the way you want to be treated—with love, presence, and care. We all know people love to share horror stories about bad service, but they love to brag on great experiences too. Your client should walk away saying, “Whew, that was more than a hairstyle... that was healing.”
Learn something about them—their hometown, their profession, their birthday. Build connection. Because when people feel known, they come back. You are not just a stylist. You are a brand. A whole business within yourself. So don’t just offer a service—offer an experience that makes your clients want to tell the world
about you.
✨ Tip 2: Practice Your Craft
You’ve heard the phrase “practice makes perfect,” right? Well, I always tell my students:
"You can’t perfect anything you refuse to practice."
You want to be an expert, but haven’t put in the hours? Haven’t done the reps?
Growth doesn’t come from overthinking. It comes from doing. Yes, mistakes will happen. That’s how you learn.
The real flex is: Can you try, fail, fix, and keep going?
I’ll be honest—I’m allergic to mediocrity. I don’t want a medium-rare life, a medium-warm
coffee, or even wear a medium shirt. I want big blessings, bold moves, and grand impact.
Even writing this blog is me showing up in a new way. My hands can only touch so many crowns, but my words? My words can reach the world. So this is me practicing now, so I can one day speak this message to thousands on a stage.
✨ Tip 3: Dream Big—Then Go Bigger (Not Harder)
Yup. I said it. Dream BIG, then go bigger—not harder. The truth is, big dreams require more of you: more time, more commitment, more implementation. And that’s not a burden—it’s a blessing in disguise. You’re not being asked to do more just because. You’re being invited to become the woman who can carry the dream.
Now I wouldn’t be The Sparkle Coach if I didn’t ask: Do you have a dream?
A dream life? A dream business? A dream relationship?
If not, it’s okay.
Let me go first:
One of my biggest dreams was to build a Sparkle Locs Academy in Kenya. Yep. Kenya.
I know.. I’m a U.S. citizen, and I’ve only been to Africa once—but I woke up one morning with this vision so clear, that I couldn’t shake it. God whispered it into my spirit, and I’ve been holding onto it ever since.
Instead of letting the size of the dream intimidate me, I’ve decided to build toward it by
teaching more Microloc classes, attending networking events, and showing up online with
purpose—because that’s how I’ll be able to fund the vision. If I told myself this dream was too big, I’d be agreeing with fear.
But when I tell myself this dream just needs a little more time, strategy, and commitment—then it becomes real. Someone once said, “If your dreams don’t scare you, they’re not big enough.” So find your dream. Keep dreaming. Then go after it boldly.
Sparkle Thoughts:
Behind every like and follow is a human who wants something real from you.
Not just a service—an experience. A transformation. A connection. Try being a good steward of your gift—both online and in real life— and this is how you build a business that lasts.
So let this be your reminder:
You are already enough.
You are already capable.
You are already that woman.
