5 Daily Rituals to Boost Confidence and Self Love

You’ve heard the saying: “When you look good, you feel good.”




Now, I know it’s deeper than just appearances, but let’s not act like looking good doesn’t help. Because baby, it does. It boosts your morale, shifts your energy, and gives you a little extra pep when life feels heavy.




Studies even show that people managing depression who maintain simple daily hygiene routines like showering, brushing their hair, or getting dressed are more likely to experience mood improvements and increased motivation compared to those who don’t. It doesn’t fix everything—but it helps.



As someone who has battled depression and still deals with anxiety from time to time, I get it. Some days, showing up feels like a chore. But the little things? They add up. And sometimes, styling your hair becomes an act of reclaiming your peace.
So while this post is titled “Microlocs & Mindset,” it’s not just about hair. It’s about reminding yourself that you are worth the effort, even on the days when it’s hard.
To help you when life is lifing, here are five daily rituals that help me keep my glow:




✨ 1. Keep Your Hair Curly 


I love curling my locs. Not only do curls give my style a little bounce and volume, but they make styling easier. A simple ponytail can become a curly bun with flair if you want an effortless slay. The visual lift in your appearance now matches the emotional pick up.




✨ 2. Accessorize Your Crown 


Keep hair accessories on deck, whether that be pearl clips, crown pins, rose barrettes, bows, even chopsticks with little sparkly pieces hanging off them. These tiny add-ons take seconds but make me feel so much more put together. Some days, that’s all I need to go from “blah” to “baddie.”




✨ 3. Makeup as Meditation 


Makeup is my paint therapy. When I can’t get to my canvas and paint set, I grab my makeup brushes. Sometimes anything from arching my brows, playing with eyeshadow, or adding a bold lip takes me out of my head and into my joy. It’s less about “fixing” anything and more about expressing my unique creativity.




✨ 4. Dress Like You Give Yourself Permission 


Whew! Sometimes picking an outfit feels overwhelming when your house is a mess or your mood is low. But when I do get dressed? It reminds me that I am powerful. It reminds me that I write the rules now. Honoring "Little Kris", who used to dream of wearing whatever she wanted. Now, "Big Kris" gives her that permission to. I get to wear what feels good on me, what fits me well, and what makes me feel like the main character in any room.




✨ 5. Feed Your Mind (Not Just Your Playlist) 


Yes, music is healing. But sometimes, I need a mindset shift. Lately, I’ve been listening to The Big Leap by Gay Hendricks on audiobook, and it’s been rocking me in the best way. It talks about breaking through the upper limits we put on ourselves and finally stepping into our genius zone, you know that space where your natural gifts flow effortlessly and impact others deeply?

That’s why I treat audiobooks and podcasts like vitamins for my mind, to help me think higher, glow brighter, and operating fully in the calling God gave me. These daily rituals aren’t about perfection. They’re about presence. They are to remind you who you are even when anxiety tries to cloud it.




If life feels heavy today, you can start small

Curl your hair. 


Clip on that crown. 


Swipe on that lip gloss. 


Pick an outfit that hugs your favorite parts. 


And hit play on something that feeds your spirit.



Because you are worth the effort.

You are still here. And your glow-up? It’s already in motion.
